Artificial leaves for clean fuels
We develop a man-made leaf from a stable all-oxide-based photoelectrochemical tandem device that can sustainably produce fuels from sunlight and water without requiring any external electrical power input.
Perovskite LEDs
Strongly polarized light emission is achieved in perovskite LEDs by synthesising strongly-confined nanoplatelets with large exciton fine-structure splitting, and self-assembling these into superlattices.
Carrier localisation
Band-like transport is essential for efficient photovoltaic performance, yet carrier localisation has been widespread among perovskite-inspired materials. Here, we investigate CuSbSe2 using a combination of ultrafast spectroscopy and computations to unravel the structural and electronic factors that enable this limitation to be overcome.
Defect tolerance in perovskites
The ability to tolerate high concentrations of point defects is a key reason behind the rapid rise in performance of lead-halide perovskites photovoltaics. This review examines the complex interplay of factors behind how defect tolerance arises, and how we may find this property in other classes of materials.
